Meet Caris

Caris Allen

Peer Support Specialist | Mental Wellness Coach

Caris (she/they) is a peer support worker & mental wellness coach who passionately advocates for and deeply identifies with the intersection at which Blackness, queerness and neurodivergence live. Caris approaches her practice as an intentional community member to clients, offering client-led and personalized support and safe space to each individual. Caris’ practice is heavily informed by decolonization, anti-capitalism, ancestral community care and the divestment from white supremacist systems that do not serve us as the gloriously expansive human beings that we are.

Caris’ approach embodies rest, ease and slow living, engaging with opportunities to incorporate stillness and intention into client’s daily lives, as well as integrating the knowledge and traditions of our black and brown ancestors while embracing newness and change. Caris enjoys supporting clients through cognitive reframing and creating new belief systems and paradigms where joy, authentic connection and self actualization are prioritized. Caris often uses lessons from nature and somatic awareness to guide new thinking and offer groundedness.

Caris actively challenges ableism and "grind culture" with clients, advocating for accommodations and assisting clients with guided exploration of creative and authentic ways to get their needs met. Through balancing self and communal care, trusting self over systems, and centering authenticity rather than “good vs. bad, right vs. wrong'' rhetoric, clients can expect a shame-free environment where they are held in community, seen, nourished and fully supported, with the goal of ever-growing confidence in their truth and consistent commitment to their well being. Caris offers individual and group peer support/coaching, as well as relationship/communal mediation.

Caris is also incredibly passionate about travel. They are a full-time nomadic traveler, having spent time exploring Ecuador, Colombia, Mexico and the United States over the past two years. Caris offers expat coaching and guidance into ethical travel as a lifestyle.
